Our time in Indonesia is coming to a close, and my heart is heavier than imagined. In 3 short weeks my heart has grown tremendously for the small island Batam. Before we left the Lord was ministering to me through Psalm 46. A Psalm about stillness and reverence. Upon arrival our team learned about humility very quick. A burning desire to “do ministry” and share the Gospel was stifled by a difficult language barrier, and culture. The Lord taught us the importance of being with Him, rather than doing for Him.

“He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalms‬ ‭46‬:‭10‬ ‭

As our squad learned comfort in the stillness, and thanksgiving during the mundane. Scraping windows became an opportunity to create space for intimacy with the Father, slow days of evangelism became sweet fellowship and intercession time with our team, and free time was used for worship.

While here we had the privilege to grow close to a family from Jakarta. Pak Minto, Ibu Hana and Ibu Werdi not only filled our stomachs countless times, but our souls. Rich conversations lasted hours, while we went on many adventures around Batu Aji. Their heart for prayer is pure. We went on prayer walks around their village, going door to door praying for the sick and disabled. I have been both blessed and encouraged by their faith in the midst of heavy persecution. Prayer is powerfully and effective, and this family was a living testimony of that. I’ve got hours worth of stories, that I’ve been journaling, and look forward to blogging about all the Lord has, is, and will continue to do in Batam. In the meantime enjoy some photos!
